Solicitor for motoring offence

I am due in court at the end of the month for no tax and driving on a provisional license without a full licence. I paid the fixed penalty notice that I received on time and today I received a letter to appear in Naas court. I thought once I paid the fine it was all sorted. Does anyone know a good solicitor around Naas or Kildare that could represent me in court on this matter?

Did you give the correct reference number on the payment?

Do you have a receipt of other proof of payment?

Is the summons for the same offence you paid the fine for.?

If it's paid, you don't need a solicitor. Simply bring the details with you on the day and it will be struck out.

If you still think you want a solicitor, you will find one on the morning of the hearing.

Most likely this is just an initial hearing - if you plead guilty and able to show you paid the fine. That will be the end of it. If you plead not guilty, its then set for a hearing date.

You'll show the proof to the court clerk who will show it to the garda speaker who can then accept or reject the proof.

Over and done with in 60 seconds

OP, you mention no tax and driving unaccompanied on a provisional licence/learner permit. But you used the singular ('notice') when you say you paid the fixed penalty.

What offence was the fixed penalty notice for? Did you keep it or the receipt?

If this was a case of dangerous or drunk driving where there could be several witnesses and the case will most likely be vigorously defended, it would almost certainly be adjourned to a later date for a 'hearing'. For the minor RTA stuff the OP is talking about, it will be dealt with there and then. That's how the District Court works.
