Our 07 Suzuki swift needs to be replaced shortly. Although it has never given a days trouble up to now, the bodywork is starting to show it's age and some bigger items will come to be replaced.

On the lookout for something reliable, easy run and safe for wife and son to drive.

Im told the newer swifts don't have the same Toyota engines and aren't as good.

Probably looking 10k max. Maybe a polo, Corsa or Toyota, ? Petrol only.

if you’re after reliability you couldn’t fail with a Honda or Toyota.

Honda Civic or the Fit if you were interested in a Hybrid. Could score a lovely one of them for €10k easily.

Basically any Japanese car will outlive you if looked after.

Toyota Yaris, Honda Jaaz, Suzuki Swift, Nissan Micra VW Up/Seat Mii

Don’t buy a Polo or Corsa if you want reliability

If you don’t do massive mileage, go with a cheap Nissan Leaf with you can charge it at home.
