.21 Sharp

What are your opinions on the new .21 sharp, it's being brought out as a lead free alternative to the .22LR.

Thought I'd never see the demise of the .22LR and hopefully I don't but the lead bans are changing things.

Interested to hear your thoughts.

Know nothing about it -

I presume that you will have to purchase a rifle in .21 sharp calibre to use it?

From the little I've looked into it, it's a new rifle or rebarrell.

Looks interesting but I'm happy enough with the 22lr as are an awful lot of people worldwide.

There's no mention of subsonic yet but that shouldn't be hard to achieve. Just decrease the speed a little I presume. Plenty on other platforms with the same question about subsonic though.

Just from what I have read, it seems like you would need a new barrel, but wouldnt need a new rifle. Although, as we are in Ireland, thats pretty much the same thing! New calibre, so you would need a licence for the different barrel. Would be interested to see how this progresses.

It's a 22lr case, so it would fit into and fire from a .22lr chamber, but performance would obviously be terrible without a case neck and freebore into a .21 barrel
