Hi all, moved animals away from house and turns out 2 battery fencers not working so sent them off for repair.

Ive whipped a mushroom fencer from the shed and hooked up to 12v tractor battery to see if any shock in it for few seconds. Works away

.anyone any experience with using rechargeable battery on these keltec, I think, fencers. Or do I bite bullet and buy a dry battery.

Cheeta man says it will be a week before repair is back at least.

Type of battery shouldn't matter but voltage will. It could be a bad idea to run a 6 or 9V fence unit on a 12V battery unless you have a voltage regulator to step the voltage down.

Yea, that was my recollection, it would have a very short life at 12V if that is true.

Something like this in between the battery and fence unit would work.

    obviously if it's 9V that's needed look for a 9V version.

I looked at one of those stepson on Friday online

Decided to buy the original round battey yesterday. Tested in shed and was producing good shock for the few seconds.

Tested yesterday on the fence and the power was down on it, so left it off over night so I could knock the few briars.

Over there this am and the bleeding thing isn't working at all now, spring not moving and no shock. .

    Thanks Guys

Have a look at all the connections, worked a couple of them years ago, used old 12v car battery left in tyre centre, I used to put a brass screw into the middle cell. All went well for a few years until a worker gave me an old car battery with a bit of a kick still in it, when I was pushing the screw in it blew up, luckily I was beside the drinking trough.

Found the proper 6v batteries lacking, but bought 12v fencers then.
