Depends on where in Shankill, lovely area, if yer posh I wouldn't be looking at Rathsallagh or Shanganagh Cliffs but I'm from a council estate and think both are grand, so depends on what yer looking for really

Trigger alert: anyone not looking for an honest commonsense answer look away. I know this area very well and this is what I would want to be told if I was buying a house here.

Shankill is like a half donut with the social housing on the outskirts and the jammy bastards in the middle.

To the north (Ballybrack Killiney end) is Rathsallagh including Shanganagh Cliffs. This used to be a Council estate but mostly private homes now afaik though a lot were bought by landlords and have HAP tenants.

South is the new Shanganagh Castle estate (social housing and affordable housing which translates as soon to be buy to let investors because you would want to be mad to actually buy a house in among the social units). Castle Farm is a private estate near the new social housing estate.

To the west it's a bit mixed. Rathmichael is still posh but very close to it is Stonebridge (social housing) and New Vale (old council houses like Rathsallagh but a very small estate and very settled).

The village, Corbawn and Quinn's Road areas are lovely (Aubrey Park is just off the village and the streets off Quinn's Road are all owner occupied afaik: Shrewsbury, Aubrey Grove, Foxes Grove and Shanganagh Grove).

But an IPAS centre is coming to Quinn's Road so there goes the neighbourhood.
