Samsung Galaxy A tablets have died

I have two Galaxy A tablets, one a year older then than the other, both probably around 8 or 10 years old maybe?

They've both got progressively slower and slower - I've deleted everything I can think of off them and they were all just about usable - I only ever used them for surfing the internet, nothing remotely fancy.

One died on me about a year ago - ran out of battery and won't charge - the charging symbol shows briefly, then just flickers madly and no charging happens.

The same happened the other one last night, so both are now dead.

Is that the two of them just fit for the recycling centre now, or is there any way to factory reset them or something, that might coax them back to life?

It just seems a shame to have to bin them - they were dog-slow, but did the trick for a bit of nighttime reading before falling asleep! I'd rather not have to shell out for a new one if I don't absolutely have to ....

I had problems with my sons one a couple of years ago, cant remember what the fault was but managed to bring it back to life. I opened it up and disconnected the internal battery cable for a couple of minutes, then re-connected and all was good again 😁

You'll need a plastic pry tool or some kind of plastic tool to pry the tablet open without damaging the case. Don't use anything metal to open it 😉. No screws involved . The back just clips off. Should be a YouTube video for guidance on opening it .

Honestly I doubt it's worth the effort given the age of them.

I got an A9+ (8GB ram /128gb storage) for 220 a few months back. The basic A9 would be cheaper again.

    Have a look here: https://www.gomibo.ie/

Based in Holland but delivery is exceptionally fast. I had mine on a Monday after ordering Saturday night.
