Am considering moving to Eir for Siro. Am I mad or have they sorted themselves out?

    As the title says - I just realised that I am paying Sky too much for Siri so looking to move. What's interesting about Eir's offering is that you can get a 24 month contract which avoids hassle switching again in 12 months. However - given that this is Eir I am worried about whether I will be able to switch at all or will be left waiting for 6 hours on the phone/ not getting call backs/ being overcharged and all the other horror stories you hear.

    Anyone got any experiences on what they are like to deal with recently?

    Would appreciate any insights anyone might be able to offer.

    I briefly considered Eir when NBI became available to me but I decided against it because of past experience with their awful customer service. That said, I know people who are happy with Eir so maybe they have improved.

    I don't think Eir resell SIRO, is your house covered by OpenEir FTTH as well?

    Have eir for 4 years, no complaints whatsoever and are very keenly priced

    Just checking there and looks like you're right; don't k now why Switcher was showing Eir as an option earlier.

    Anyway I went with pure Telecom in the end.

    Your price will still increase during a 24 month contract with Eir because of those CPI+whatever percent increases they're almost all doing now. I've stuck with Digiweb specifically because they don't do this.

    If ya join after April it's 40 notes, then the following year it goes up a fiver and when it's time to renew after 2 years you can renegotiate

    'm with Pure Siro using the FRitzbox 7530 on Pure, have had no problems, but no deal to renew, so time to shop around.

    Digiweb are €40/month for 1GB with FRitzbox +€30 'activation' fee - Digiweb reliable?

    Vodafone are €35/month (6months@30, 6months@40), but have Gigabox junk hardware - can you still use Fritzbox with them by changing login and settings? Cheapest currently.

    I've been with Digiweb for over a year now, solid as a rock. There's been a couple of times where they've gone down for scheduled maintenance overnight but they always texted me in advance and it was only a few minutes according to the router logs.

    You can use the Fritz with Vodafone, I used to use a 7590 with them. Just change the PPPoE credentials. But keep in mind that they'll probably increase your price in April due to the CPI-based increases.

    In technical terms Eir is superior, they provide proper dual stack, unlike almost anyone else. Also there is no PPPoE encapsulation, so the latency is lower and the speeds are marginally higher.

    Their support is abysmal (always been) though, but currently I'm in my second year of Eir's FTTH and had no single reason to contact their support.

    How do you know their support is 'abysmal' if you haven't had cause to contact them?

    If everything is fine then they are much a muchness, it's how they are when you have a problem. We have been with them for about six months, we had them fail to take a direct debit and threaten to cut us off a month ago. It's quite common for them to **** up in this way, but we sorted it with a phonecall.

    So you actually have no idea. Perhaps stop giving advice that you know nothing about? This is far more helpful that unsubstantiated comments.

    Personally, I have had no issues with them for many years and have used their support in recent times.

    I do have an idea. They were adamant that I've subscribed for two years contract while I literally had call recording in which their representative explicitly said it's one year. Took me a month and a letter from my solicitor to sort things out.

    At my new address I subscribed to them again because I need working dual stack.
