Are your feet a weird shape?

Well not exactly weird as such!

I have really wide feet, and getting shoes to fit is tough. Hiking boots are especially difficult!

I generally do single day hikes, max 7 hours long. At the moment I'm currently using a cheap pair of Karrimor from SportsDirect, but the sole is bad and they have little support. I bought them mostly because they have a wide toe box.

I'm looking for a wide fitting, waterproof boot (mid height) with good ankle support. Most boots I try on are too narrow, or have poor grip.

Could anyone recommend a shop (Dublin/Kildare/Wicklow) with a varied selection of boots? Or even a particular brand that are wide fitting?

    Thanks!

Cotswold Outdoors in Suffolk St are great, as are their sister shop Snow and Rock in Dundrum. I always find the staff really helpful and they have a good product range. I love Meindl boots, they're also good for wider feet.

the meindls generally are good for wider feet, but do try some decent supplied shops with various different brands in stock, and take your time trying them on, staff can be great in well stocked shops such as those mentioned
