Draining land

    hi all,

I’ve 2 parcels of land that I’m looking at draining. 1 bit is along a lake shore and is underwater for the whole winter and the other bit has a slow moving river bordering it which floods over in times of heavy rainfall. During dry weather both bits are travelable but they are very spongy underfoot.
I have cleaned the perimeter drains on both bits but was wondering is there any other techniques I could try to allow the land to dry out quicker when the water level regresses and to stop rushes / weeds from taking over. The soil is a black peaty soil type.
    TIA.
