Oil heating not working

Hi all, our oil central heating has stopped working in the bedroom section of the house. The living section is working. The pipes going to the rads aren't heating up either so my guess is its further bag the system that the problem is. The boiler is kicking off fine. Does anyone have an idea where to start with this problem?

    Is your heating zoned?

Could be a failed motorised valve has stopped workinh

Look for a zone valve around the boiler or hotpress:

Some of these have manual override switches that you can move to force the heating on.

Cheers. Looks like it could be that valve alright! I was so worried it could have been something with the pipes!

All valves will have a way of opening manually. If it works with valve opened manually then you know you need a new valve.

That is probable, but it is possible that it is only the motor part that has failed. I would try and get the same brand and model of valve, and try replacing the motor part first.

Another possibility, which I would check first, is to ensure that whatever is switching the zone valve is working properly. For example, some thermostats are battery powered and the battery may be dead.
