Work app requires us to sign in with google/facebook?

So when I got the app I was first thinking of using my google account to sign in, but it's a fake account that I may have trolled with over the years, so I thought maybe not. I said "ah maybe I'll use the fb account instead" but it has been so long since I used that that I couldn't remember my password until I got home to my PC. But then I thought "why am I even in this predicament?"!

I don't really think the company is after my personal data but why can't they just give out a username and password (that we change) like most companies? Why would a company/app creator think to do it this way? I suppose I might just need to set up another anonymous google account specifically for the purpose of this app. I heard some apps require a pre-existing google/facebook login.

    Thanks

There's something missing here. Both Google and Meta offer business tools suites, but for your company to add you to them, you'd still need to have specified an account to them for them to be able to add it. Or they may be allowing your official company email to login as well, which seems more likely.

I got an email from paycheck plus engage, directing me to set up a password, which I did. I was under the impression that this password will then be the password for the company app. But now that I think about it, they would be completely separate.

The app has been on my phone for a week now. We were told that we won't be able to login to see our rosters until our first payslip arrives. Well that arrived today but I can't seem to log into the app. When I open the app, three options appear, saying to either login with apple, google or facebook.

It sounds like that paycheck login is completely separate, it uses your email address with it's own password on their side, same as a login for something like boards.ie.

As for the app though, it seems like it's not using that, as it wouldn't allow for the use of any non-gmail/apple/meta accounts, and block everyone else. Though they could be using only those three for their Single Sign On support. I'd recommend explicitly asking the company what account they're expecting you to login with, as it's pretty vague what they're looking for on the app login.

got it sorted. It was something to do with the employee ID I was putting in. I was meant to the add the first five letters of my surname to it. I was able to do it with regular email address and with my google account
