    HI,

I'm a tradesman working as a sole trader on the RCT. My business address is my home but I work on different sites. Question I have is am I allowed to claim a certain amount of my kerosene home heating bill as tax allowance?

    Thanks

There's really no black and white when it comes to this and the next person to comment could say different. There's two questions to consider

1 - Is there duality of purpose
2 - Has the costs been incurred wholly and exclusively in the course of business

Your house needs to be heated anyway regardless of any business use so really it comes down to how much additional cost is incurred from what i assume is your home office. You'd need to be able to justify this to Revenue, you're not going to get away with saying half the cost is from your office.

For paye employees Revenue allows tax relief on 30% of their light, heat and broadband costs for days worked "predominantly" from home.

You don't work from home. You don't claim home heating as an expense.
