Mixer Tap Removal Woes

My kitchen mixer tap is dripping for the past couple of weeks and am biting the bullet trying to remove it. The connection underneath the sink is very corroded (see photo) and also the nut is touching one of the copper supply pipes making it very hard to get a grip on it. I have an extended wrench to get at the nut but cannot get a hold on it, and am also wondering if I did get a grip would it snap when trying to rotate due the corrosion above.

Would anyone have any tips on sorting this type of removal situation, can I remove by force by snapping the nut thing which comes down (I suspect not since the threading above will remain in place) ? Can I try to force the copper supply pipes a little to the side to try get some space around the nut itself - I have a heat gun in case this helps?

The space under the sink is very obstructed and its bloody hard to get in there too to make matters more tricky :)

something like this might get you sorted.

    if not snap it off

You should be able to bend the copper pipes a little to improve access. These are part of the tap and will be replaced with it.

If you can get a vice grips firmly onto the end of that stud you might be able to screw it out of the tap itself. Failing that firmly rocking from side to side will usually cause it to snap off. Just be careful not to damage the sink.

The copper pipes should screw out giving you better access. Once they are removed spray with WD40 every 2 hours for about 8 hours. Leave overnight. Get a rag and remove excess WD40. It should come off easy enough after that

If all comes to all and you need a plumber get him install fkexi's with penny valves it makes the next replacement easier. If you are fairly familiar with plumbing install them yourself

Thanks a million all for the replies, that's all really helpful - going to have another crack at it on Friday so hopefully I'll get it sorted once and for all with the above tips.
