Can a Fritzbox 7530 be used with any SIRO provider?

I'm with Digiweb, but their 40 EUR pm price goes up after 12 months, so I'll need to switch.

The Fritzbox 7530 is mounted on the wall, so I'll either keep it (buy it out) or get a second-hand one - same model.

I use it as the cable modem and I want to keep it as the only cable modem/router in the house - don't want another solution/cable modem from another supplier.

    I wonder:

    • Will all SIRO providers work with a Frizbox 7530, even the ones that don't normally supply a Fritzbox themselves? (if not, which suppliers are known to work)
    • What setting will I need to alter/get from the supplier in order to make the existing unit work with the new supplier?

    Thank you!

A report here of Pure and Sky working on Siro with Fritzbox.

I can also add that Pure and Sky also work on openeir network with Fritzbox.

You may not need to change any settings to get your new provider working with your Fritzbox, I didn't. I got the Fritzbox 7530 from Pure Telecom and when I switched to Sky, the Fritzbox just worked with Sky without any changes. Can be a bit tricky though if you have phone service (landline phone) aswell through your Fritzbox.

You can ring digiweb and they will give you another discount for a year. The box belongs to them, I assume, and they have it set up so digiweb can remotely connect to it and check it's status and change settings.

I don't know if it can be factory reset etc but most providers like to have their own box that they can remote into and check for issues with the connection etc. If you use a box from another source they can no longer remote in and so may have issues supporting you. It's a bigger problem with older phone line or cable TV boxes as old wiring would make system unreliable and they could tell this by looking at the data on phone line quality etc.

In terms of settings to change I don't know what's required as I have never went down that road but if you want to start messing with settings you may not be able to or a factory reset may keep the secret digiweb defaults such as master password.

You could always go with the new providers box at first, then try get the other one to work or go out and buy a brand new fritzbox.

Personally I would stay with digiweb. The support is good and pricing is ok if you haggle.

    Thank you, sounds promising!

Yes, I'll stay with them if they give me a discount. We'll see. Thank you.
