    hi all,

I’ve a new work phone and I’m trying to transfer all my info (contacts, apps, etc) over to my new phone.
I keep getting a message telling me I don’t have enough space on my work iCloud account (I’ve 2.6GB used of 5GB) to backup the data so that I can use that backup to setup my new phone.
I can’t reduce the amount of data I’ve used on the I cloud because it’s all work photos that I need.
Has anyone got any ideas on how to get around this?

Have you still got the old phone? If so, you don't need iCloud. You can just transfer everything over wirelessly.

yeah I still have the old phone.
When I turn on the new phone I:

    1. select English as language
    2. Select region as Ireland
    3. select appearance as medium
    4. I put the old phone next to the new to do quick start setup
    5. I accept in old phone
    6. I position the old phone to pickup the blue circle thing on the new phones screen
    7. I hit get started on my old phone account
    8. it says “keep this iPhone (the old one) next near your new iPhone while your information is transferred “
    9. I have to input the old phones passcode on the new iPhone
    10. “Setting up your iPhone” appears on the new iPhone
    11. I then get transfer your apps and data and the 4 options are,

    -from iCloud backup

    -from Mac or PC

    -from android

    -don’t transfer anything

    12. It’s telling me there’s no backup available on my iCloud

If I got to do a backup on my old phone there’s not enough space

    Where is the wireless option?

Thanks for any help as this is frying my brain

Really, a cheap PC is buttons compared to the price of an iPhone. Or borrow a PC/Mac ... You could backup and restore the photos. You should have a backup anyway. On android you can easily backup to a PC/Mac. Maybe iPhone is a PITA.

Or temporarily buy some more iPhone Cloud storage to get you over to the new phone and see if you can then reduce storage.

If the photos are work related, can work pay for any costs / tax deduction it.

I still do it the old school way, using iTunes to make a backup of the phone and restore it!

on the iPhone does it not let you use a temporary increase in cloud storage when moving from one iPhone to a new iPhone.

    no which is infuriating.
I was on to apple support and they were willing to allow something like what you say as a temp increase on I cloud but I have to check with my job if I’m even allowed sync data to a cloud first.

Make sure your current phone is up to date iOS wise. You might even need to reset the new one and kick it off again.

If it fails try it on another WiFi network. It’s definitely doable without going near iCloud.

Transfer from phone to phone, caveat - they need to be on the same ios - update both if they are different

Settings > generak > software update - on both
