Moving house, bring alarm with me?

I had a SPC4320 system installed in my house about 7 years ago, pretty happy with it. I'm moving house soon and wondering would it be normal to have the installer come and take it out and install it in new house? Think it cost about 1,000 to have installed back then, all wired. I believe the new house is also wired for alarm but the alarm system looks much older than the SPC4320

Just bring the house with you

Fair enough, I can take a hint 🤣 Will leave it as is. Just be a shame to see it ripped out and replaced by the new owners when I would happily reuse it

All things considered, it would probably cost the same to install a new box in the new house as it would to pay someone to do two jobs - visit the old house and remove that alarm, presumably chargeable like any other call out, then a second call out to install in the new house.

I agree it's a shame to see perfectly good equipment being thrown away, but that won't be on you. Maybe the new owner will be as waste conscious as you and I.

Good luck in the new house!!

Leave the user manual and maybe even type out a "cheats guide" to operating it and contact details of the installer so they can get the codes changed.

When I moved into my house all I did was change the codes.

I think generally people will work with what's there rather than rip things out.....you just have to look at the free cycle pages to see how frugal some people are.

I forgot to put the smiley after the comment 😁

The labour cost of taking it out would exceed the cost of a new and more modern alarm and it would be seen as an integral part of the house too. So the people you are selling to would expect it to be in situ.

I think it would be considered a fixture and shouldn't be removed. Financially, I can't see a great saving in taking it out and re installing it. What makes you think the new owners will rip it out? Give them the codes and manual.
