I wish to work out a budget for the following wall construction consisting of 38 metres long with 12 pillars using 4” blocks on their flat to a height of 1.15 metres. I got a figure of 2354 blocks including 50 for steps.

also how much is a 20 ton lorry of builders sand and how much cement will I need? What size bags does the cement come in now ?

Your block layer will give you the figures.

Cement comes in 25kg bags now and you will need approx 50 bags for the blockwork.

Not sure on the price of sand in your area but it's around €600 plus vat delivered here in the north west.

you also need to budget for capping the wall and piers, as well as expansion joints and then beading if being plastered

Don't buy the sand before you get a builder as they can be fussy, on my project he specified a particular sand from a quarry, 190 cash for 10 tons, builder only needed 4 but it was same price!
