Currys refusing to honour their competition/ promotion

So this is a bit of a strange one...

Basically Currys ran a promotion over the summer

    https://scoreupto10kwithcurrys.com

Basically you had to buy a TV worth more than 700e then enter online and guess the average price of a TV sold by Currys in 2023. On the 26th of July I was notified I won.

Since then I have had the most frustrating and infuriating exchanges with Currys customer support

They told me it's nothing to do with Currys - despite their email signature address being the same listed in the T&C...

Then, they claimed that Currys never ran this promotion and it seems like it was a phishing scam I have fallen for to collect my personal data.

So responded with a link to their own website where the competition is listed along with their other promotions

    https://www.currys.ie/competition-terms-and-conditions.html

And for good measure, I sent them a newsletter email from around the same time advertising this promotion....

With all of that, customer support trying to tell me it was a phishing scam left me speechless... Unless he's trying to say Currys are the scammers? 😂

I've contacted the ccpc but haven't heard anything back yet, have gone back into store and spoken with the manager (who decorated his store with balloons and signs like every other Currys retail shop during the promotion) he gave me a email of I assume an area manager who is emailing a few people but still seems to be implying it might be a scam…

Customer support have refused to give me a direct contact to speak to someone and won't transfer me, when I insist they transferred me to the online sales department and then the insurance department instead of a manager as one apparently doesn't exist....

Totally stumped of what to do other than get a solicitor I suppose?

Was definitely on their website anyway. Below is from May this year. Maybe a Currys UK vs IE issue with support.

Yep you can navigate to the terms and conditions of it from their website and as I said it was in store as well and in their email newsletters.

No fee for the competition you pay Currys for a TV over 700e then enter your receipt details on their website.

    The promoter is

Currys Ireland Limited, 3rd Floor Office Suite, Omni Shopping Centre, Santry, Dublin 9, Ireland.

The email to contact about the contest is

    info@Scoreupto10Kwithcurrys.com

    Main prize is €10k

    Runner up - 10 winners @ 1k each

Open to republic of Ireland residents. Winnings will be paid by cheque

Currys customer support is a call centre in England with poorly paid staff who probably don't know where Ireland is let alone know about an Ireland only competition.

Email the above email address and it probably will be sorted

This is from the T&C's you have mentioned - you contact info@scoreupto… Not a phone number, not a general custom service email, not a local store

    11. Winner Notification: Provisional Winners will be contacted via the email address provided on entry by 31st July 2024 and will be asked to provide a valid receipt, their home address and evidence of identity and eligibility. Reasonable efforts will be made to contact the provisional Winners. Once eligibility has been confirmed, the provisional Winner will be confirmed as a Winner. If a provisional Winner does not respond to the initial contact within 14 days, we reserve the right to disqualify that entrant and award the Prize to a reserve selected in the same manner. Reserve Winners may have less time to respond.

    12. Prize Acceptance: Fulfilment of the Prizes will take place within 28 days of acceptance of the Prizes. In the unlikely event that a Winner has not received communication to arrange their Prize, the Winner must inform the Promoter by emailing info@Scoreupto10Kwithcurrys.com. If a Winner does not do so, the Promoter reserves the right to not reissue the Prize at its sole discretion.
