Timing Chain Replacement and Oil Consumption Issue

Presumably like many other folk in the past, the timing chain on my 2016 Discovery Sport appears to be on the way out.

The most frustrating part is that there is only 68,000km on the clock.

Furthermore the oil consumption is excessive, with a top up required 4 months after a recent service and only 4,000km after the service.

I've been quoted around 2.6k for a timing chain replacement and potentially upto 6k for an engine rebuild, if the oil consumption issue is due to engine and not the turbo. This was quoted from a non main dealer garage.

My head is absolutely fried, given how little mileage is on the car. The car is well out of warranty so I'm not even bothering going back to the main dealer where the car was bought. I'm also reluctant to go back to the main dealer to have the work done, given some negative experiences in the past.

My questions are, has anyone had their timing chain replaced on a Discovery Sport, and if so, where it was done. Can pm if that info can't be put onto the thread. Or can anyone recommend a reputable garage that I can contact for a quote for this work. Again, pm with info if required.

If anyone has other opinions in terms of little point in putting money into the car, or if it's worthwhile to get the work done. I'd be happy if the work even gave me another 70,000km - 100,000km without further engine issues, as I put less than 10,000km on the clock in a year.

Any help or guidance would be most appreciated!
