Strange noise in 2023 Kia Sportage

    Hi All,

Looking at buying a 2023 with ~30k kms on the clock. Took it for a drive today around the business park - on electric all the way. There was a strange "crunching" noise - like someone lightly walking on gravel, or static coming through a speaker. It was also fairly rythmic, but the level of noise did flucuate.

I'll ask the dealer in the morning about it, but wondering if anyone has an idea of what it could be?

    Thanks in advance,

    SparrowHawk

Can you also head the sound generator that never EV's have when driving slowly? If not, maybe it's damged?

If you're not used to EV's, at slow speeds everything can be heard, and could just be the tyres creaking of have some gravel bits in the treads. You just don't hear that with a Petrol/Diesel.

It's the 1st EV I've driven - but it didn't sound like it was a "deliberate" noise? Of course I could also have recorded it, if I'd had my head screwed on….

So for anyone wondering….I was not far off when I described it as someone walking on gravel…..

There was an audio track of nature sounds playing in the background of a "snowy cottage" - the noise was someone walking on dry snow….man don't I feel stupid!

thanks eveyone who responsed and provided good advice!
