Parish Pastoral Councils, a Vatican 2 promise denied?

I have recently resigned from my Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) in Dublin after one year serving as a nominee of the Parish Priest. During the year I had tried to have the PPC implement the Guidelines agreed for the PPC but my efforts were effectively opposed by the Parish Priest. The PPC did not support me in the matter. I had previously served on the PPC for four years from 2018 to 2012.

My decision to resign was based on my belief that the PPCs in general seem to concur ultimately with the wishes of the Parish Priest while the wishes of parishioners are ignored or are thought of as of little account. I would welcome the views of retired members of PPCs and parishioners on how the PPCs have worked in their experience.
