There's an absolute heap of them these days with so many ex-pros available and looking to make a few quid.

I like The Rugby Pod with Jim Hamilton and Andy Goode, fairly decent decent commentary across all leagues / international games and not overly biased opinions on them. Can be a little lads bantery at times but in general a pretty good commentary on the game.

I like the Left Wing with Luke Fitzgerald and Will Slattery for more Irish centric based stuff.

There's heaps more between House of Rugby, The42, OTB, The Good, The Bad and the Rugby, Egg Chasers…

THanks. need something to listen to on a few long trips I have coming up.

Not a fan of Hamiltons stuff largely because of the lads bants stuff. If you're a Leinster fan Harpin on rugby has a good format, guests review the game start to finish and then have general discussion about it. Guests generally seem to know a lot about the team. Haven't found anything as good for the other provinces. Demented mole is fair enough on Irish rugby, some great insights and the lads stuff is tame. Egg Chasers YouTube stuff is good, his podcast has a couple of less interesting cohosts. Anything with Tom English from BBC Scotland is good on the 6N

Craggy rugby podcast is a Connacht one. The demented mole is my favourite so I also recommend them along with the 42.ie.

He gets a lot of blow-back on here from time to time but TRK's paywalled stuff is excellent. Obviously very Munster-centric. (Had an excellent podcast recently as TRK was 10 years old, and went into some of what his is pretty inspiring back-story).

TRK 10 years old? That explains a lot.

    Lol

I follow on twitter and find there is an element of a clique with 3 or 4 of them. Which is a pity as some of his stuff is actally quite informative but if you dare offer an alternative opinion a few others tend to round on you

Wouldn't be a fan of TRK podcast. It's just fans really, nothing you probably wouldn't spot yourself.

I like demented mole, tend to take a slant on things which I wouldn't necessarily have seen myself.

The42 was good but behind a paywall and Jackman was popping up everywhere. You'd hear him spouting the same thing on rte podcast or on TV pre game. Paid for a while but expired and don't think I'd renew.

The left wing ,Luke Fitzgerald one was ok. Luke the name but usually the worst contribution! Seems like he's commenting on games he didn't even see.

Rte not too bad and no paywall

Would agree with Demented Molecast making points that I wouldn’t have considered. The rest of the mainstream ones tend to have the same few guests on, specifically as mentioned in previous post Jackman, and also ROC who will pop up on the Left Wing, Second Captains and anywhere else that will have him in the build up to a game.

Green and gold rugby: the rugby report card. Three Aussie mates talking everything aussie and super rugby. Good craic and not too serious. Not too be confused with the "dropped kick off" section of the same site, who are way too serious.

    Eggchasers

As talked about already, but I'll give a special mention to the rugby economics sub pod that JB did with Mark Webster. Very interesting if you're into the nerdy workings of rugby like myself.

    Aotearoa Rugby Pod

Everything AB rugby related and general SH. I find Bryn hall and James parsons great to listen to, with good insights into the teams and team play.

Love the demented mole, though accept it is very Leinster centric at times.

The main eggchasers podcast could be decent if JB wasn't on it. Absolutely painful to listen to his contrarian rants. I had to stop. Its a pity as Phil has a brilliant eye for the game and actually does his research before commenting on anything.

    Yeah JB is awful

The molecast seems to have disappeared completely from Spotify

  • Subscribers Posts: 42,171 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

    ??

I get it included in my options every time there's a new one released

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators Posts: 35,731 Mod ✭✭✭✭pickarooney

I usually do as well but when I went looking this morning the whole catalogue had vanished.

I found it on podtail though, so it must be just a Spoity (or regional) thing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 149 ✭✭knockoutned

I got the same, it says it is not available in your region, whatever that means.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 141 ✭✭thePigeon_

It was on Spotify to begin with? Why was I wasting my time on Soundcloud

Tommy Bowe and Donncha O'Callaghan have a new one:

    https://www.youtube.com/@TheOffloadPodcast/videos

The first ep was actually pretty interesting, talking about life as a pundit after being a pro and so on…

Not 2 lads who'd immediately attract me to listen to a podcast, but might give it a spin.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,204 ✭✭✭PMC83

TBH I thought the same myself, not a massive fan of either in terms of punditry, but actually really enjoyed it

The club scene podcast is great. 3 limerick guys covering AIL. Previews. Reviews. Interviews. All on all iteland league.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,432 ✭✭✭FrannoFan

Indo daily is a new one with Joe Molloy, does different sports. First rugby one was with Paul O'Connell. I thought it was pretty good. One on one for an hour.

I had lost interest in off the ball but I do think Joe Molloy is a good host and has a good way of getting his guests talking.

Another one out today, I'll give it a chance. (Haven't listened yet)
