I have some queries about salaries for teachers in GB.

    https://www.supportingeducation.com/content-hub/uk-teacher-salaries-guide-2024/

    (1) Movement up the six points of MPR to 43,606, is that more or less automatic if you are doing your job?

    (2) How many staff move onto the Upper Pay Range? Is that common? Is it easy?

    (3) a max of 43,606 outside London seems a joke to me, given that modest houses are 300k

    (4) a max of 49,084 isn't great, compared to 80k EUR here.

Most schools will move you up automatically. Some schools will find excuses not to, but you can easily leave and go to other schools.

Far more teachers in England will receive additional payments for roles such as Head of Subject, Head of Year, Head of Faculty, Extra-curricular coordinator etc than in Ireland. These payments can go up to 14k extra per year depending on the role and the size of the school.

It's also a lot easier to get a full-time and permanent job here as well, and there are far more promotional opportunities and chances for career development.

A word of advice however - avoid any school or MAT who advertises directly in Ireland or tries to recruit directly from Ireland. There's a reason why they can't recruit English staff. Look on tes.co.uk and apply directly for jobs there.

    Thanks.

I am not a second-level teacher, I am simply interested in PS wages.
