Assuming you are buying the alcohol in the airport shop, you can get a member of staff to seal the purchase in a tamper proof bag with the receipt and this will be acceptable to bring through security for connecting flights.

If I am travelling on a day trip i.e. departing early morning, arriving back later that day, and I purchase items e.g. perfume, cosmetics etc. over 100ml can I carry this through security on my return trip?

Yes, provided they are still intact in the tamper-evident bag containing the receipt. This practice will be accepted at all EU airports.

Thanks ... was thinking the same but saw things mentioned that you need to check your bags into the cargo hold because of the liquid
