Leaking joint into soil pipe.

    hi all,

I’m looking for a bit of advice here, I’ve a white waste pipe (think it’s 1+1/2) going into an outside soil pipe via what I think is called a boss joint?
    Anyway it’s leaking.
The white pipe exits the wall, goes 90 degrees down and into the soil pipe which runs horizontally perpendicular to the white pipe.
It’s here the joint is leaking.
I also need to get my gas boiler serviced.
Are there plumbing companies that would do both and can anyone recommend a company that they’ve used before via PM (I think that’s the forum rules)
    Any help greatly appreciated!

Where is the leak at the boss? Is it a stick/strap on boss? has the boss delaminated from the pipe? or is it the rubber seal where the pipe enters the Boss?

Depending on the design of the boss the rubber seal might be able to be pulled back and cover the face that is leaking with some tek7.

Most plumber could handle this, send a picture of the leak to the company who is serving the boiler, i'm sure the will be able to sort it out.

    Thanks Dublin Dilbert.
It’s a strap on boss I think (because there’s a strip going around the soil pipe).
The part where you tighten the strap is right against the ground so it’s hard for me to see where the leak comes from if ya get me.
Might be that it’s not tightened properly.

Nah strap is only there for when adhesive is setting. You might need to dig some of the ground out to find the specific location of the leak.

Had this happen recently, the issue is that in order to gain access to the joint you might need to cut the waste pipe to pull the fitting away from the soil stack. You then need joiner and a solvent repair to the waste pipe you just cut. Other than that TEC7 will repair the leak permanently, just run it round the lip of the boss and retighten the strap.
