Ryan Air connecting flight in Stansted

Hi, I'm flying from Italy to Stansted and then from Stansted to Cork in September.

    I will have check-in bags.

I understand that Ryanair doesn't offer connecting flights. When I pick up my bags in Stansted, do I need to leave the security area to check in my bags again and come back through security, or can I check in my bags without going through arrivals again?

From what I remember of it, they make absolutely zero provision for transfers So, you'll basically enter the terminal and go back in through security again as if you are just flying from London.

Yes, you'll have to go out through arrivals and go back in through departures.

How long does it roughly take to landing to getting out and back in again? Would you be looking at 2.5 hours enough or would you go 3.5 hours? Saturday night if that makes any difference so prefer to get the 8:35 flight instead of 9:45. Due in before 6pm and will have luggage but could probably got for the 10kgs hand luggage option but not sure on flight to stansted if that’s an option

The gate will probably close 30 minutes before departure so knock half an hour off your available time. I'd probably just bring hand luggage only and buy a fast track security pass to be on the safe side. Your inbound flight might get delayed so give yourself as much time as possible.

Thanks. I know it all depends on the return flight if on time or not.

Not sure on the turnaround time yet so depends if a short or long one to give a bit of extra time if outbound delayed.

2 and 2 so adds up to do fast track.

We got caught last year at Gatwick. Cost £100 each to transfer the ticket to the next flight after being 7 minutes late at security. On the return leg we saw later RA flights for about €20 each. We bought them as a backup plan.

Again, because nothing works properly in uk airports, we were too late at the security check. Ryanair makes this call, by the way, not airport security. We just used the later boarding passes to get through and boarded the original flight on our earlier ticket.

The plane for the original flight hadn’t even landed on its inbound leg at the time our original iickets were refused because we were ‘late’.

Cost us an extra €40, but felt like a win.

Of course they don't, they're a point to point airline, they don't do transfers/connections.

    As an update.

I'm in Stansted right now. My plane landed 5 minutes early, at 11:10. My next flight to Cork is at 13:00.

I had to pick my bags up, go to departures, drop them off, and go to security.

I had time for a sandwich for lunch, and now I'm waiting at the gate and boarding hasn't started.

I had fast track security which probably helped distress it, but I would have made it without it.

Stansted has fast track passport control now too!
