There was a poster at reception of the Irish Ferries WB Yeats ship last week notifying that theres (finally) a shuttle bus option for foot passengers at Cherbourg Port - see below (my picture)

This tallies with the local transport authority : https://www.capcotentin.fr/bateau/ and seems to negate any need to exit the ferry terminal compound to get a normal public bus like was the case till very recently.

For info, foot passenger fares from Dublin port to Cherbourg are just €66 for autumn / winter sailings.

Ferry Terminal-Train, as above departs the terminal 1 hour after the ferry arrives and from Gare SNCF 2 hours before the ferry leaves. The local bus nr. 8 stops at Gare Maretime across a couple of roads and the tracks and is a summer service.
