Chimney Sweep Aftermath

Had a little chimney fire (birds and small twigs) for about 10mins about his time last summer. Swept the chimney then, small bit of rubble but nothing major. This time however, there were a few bigger pieces of the liner that seem to have some down during the summer lull.

We use a stove insert, nothing but the original cement liner going to the top and out

    Worth worrying about?

Hi, those irregular lumps look like what's commonly referred to as 'snots' from the chimney. They are lumps of cement mortar from the construction process and are what collects around the throat area of the chimney and then become dislodged in high heat. You can see that they are little blobs and squiggles - nothing there suggests to me that the the lining is collapsing.

If you're worried then have a professional check it over and give you peace of mind.
