Toilet running and topping up every few mins

I have a toilet that tops itself up every few mins. There's a small continuous run of water at the back of the bowl.

I'm assuming the flushing mechanism is where the leak or problem is.

Is this a job to tackle myself to replace the flushing system , a straight swap?

    It's a push button flush.

Also, the pic shows the existing one

. Can anyone identify it so I can get one the same? It's about 18 years old now...

first thing is to check the push button.

It might not be closing fully after been depressed.

    we had a similar issue.

Unscrewed the push button and reset it and no more continuous flow

Ours had the same and the large rubber washer was damaged on one side. I flipped the washer upside down and sorted the leak
