How do you find a good occupational therapist?

I'm seeking an occupational therapist in West Dublin for my parents, someone to advise us on how to adapt their house to their needs now they're getting older and are starting to get mobility issues. I've been to the AOTI website and see a number of private OT there that could be suitable, does anyone have any recommendations for an OT they found good? Is it best to go with one of the larger companies or are individual OT's better? thanks for any suggestions or thoughts.

Best recommendation is a satisfied customer.

the companies that do the work generally have their preferred OTs and I would call them first to chat.

Consult their GP or district nurse.

they won't be able to give out list of private OTs, in general they are not allowed to.

they can refer to HSE OT, but some areas will have a waiting period of up to 5 years. if it is not urgent.

for adaptation works, best to either call an OT at random, but really better to use one that the companies use (because the companies will only want the OT that can do the right reports, and be reliable.). Companies do not employ private OT but it behoves them to know a few good ones.

the councils will also generally have a list of private OTs, the same ones as all the above. some councils will not send a list but refer to AOTI website.
