Questions about career as a play therapist

I'm very interested in becoming a play therapist but after looking into it, it looks like you can't complete the relevant qualifications without having first worked in a relevant field such as school teaching or as a psychologist. Does anyone know whether it's possible to qualify as a play therapist without having first trained as a teacher or in psychology?

Also, when a person does qualify as a play therapist, where do they get most of their work? Is it mainly through schools or as an independently owned play therapy business?

Just looking into this as a possible career and hoping to get more info on it.
