Ford Focus

Hi, so I bought a focus last year and the guy I bought it from had the lights turned off on the dash board. The engine management light came on after I drive it home saying the DPF valve was blocked. I tried twice to regenerate it, used a DPF cleaner and it didn’t work. I deleted it off the car for 400€. After that I saw the leak in the boot. The injector started leaking, replaced the battery and the alternator because the battery was drained by the alternator. The battery broke soon after that. I got a full service this year for 500€ because everything was wrong. There was new nuts and washers etc put into it. The turbo is starting to make noise ( a whirring noise) but it a still loaded with power. Recently I replaced the brake shoes and pads and got four new tyres put on. Now the message on the dash is coming up as “engine malfunction” because the diesel filter is blocked! It’s my first car too. I want a car swap because I can’t keep fixing it and I’ll be starting a new teaching job soon enough! Any help would be great!

You need new mechanic for starter deleting dpf was caused by injector so that 400 was waste of money and illegal and now you have I bet smokey car . As for trying to sell it you will get very little for it as if someone who knows about cars inspect it went buying it will known it dog of car turbo gone dpf gone injectors gone. If I was you I fix it diesel filter if just that and turbo might be OK car then otherwise Trade it in for better car but probably won't get much for it

    What year is focus ?

it’s a 09 focus. There’s no smoke because when I bought the car there’s only 189,000km up on it. The injectors aren’t gone, I paid big money to get them fixed. Aside from the filter, it’s perfect. All the stuff like the battery etc was all fixed! I’ve replaced and fixed basically everything inside the car yknow?

    1.6?

Those MK2 focus are plagued with issues, injectors are a known problem, and where the injectors are located requires the need for an oil seal around each of them, copper seals blow carbon up the bore, falls down past those oil seals, into the sump and blocks the oil pickup gauze which blows the turbo, another cause is the turbo oil feed bolt has a tiny filter inside the bolt that gets blocked and same issue. (bolt is hollow, oil runs through it)

Were all 4 injectors copper washers and rubber oil seals changed?

Whirring noise in the turbo is more than likely play in the shaft, easy to check yourself remove the hose between turbo and airbox 2 7mm at each side jubilee clips take that small hose off and you can reach your hand in and feel for movement in the centre of the turbine shaft.

What leads you to believe the fuel filter is blocked? Are there low fuel pressure codes? Fords throw a diesel filter overloaded message on the dash which points to the DPF, not the diesel fuel filter.

Sorry you're left with such a POS of a car
