Gas oven

I'm in the process of changing my gas oven/hob but am having trouble trying to find a gas oven, seems like they only want to sell electric ovens. I want to swap like for like instead of having the trouble to get both a gass installer to disconnect my oven and then an electrician to wire up an electric oven. Anyone know we're to buy gas ovens, anywhere I have looked so far have only electric ones.

@Lumen thanks for that, I should have been more clear in my discription, I'm looking for a single built-in gas oven and seperates hob, getting the hob seems no problem but trying to get a single oven is an issue, some providers seem to have one or two on the websites but when you inquire they seem not to do them.

I think most people find gas hobs better than electric but electric fan oven better than gas. This is why they are harder to source.

Word of warning, you need a RGI to replace the oven and hobs. Make sure you get RGI cert. Many manufacturers will only repair under the warranty if you can provide the cert

The reason it's difficult is because indoor combustion appliances require permanent passive vents which harms the heating efficiency.

I went through this with my mother a couple of years ago. There were several difficult aspects:

• Sourcing anything that fitted the space
• Filtering out the crap brands
• Getting it fitted to be compliant with the latest regs

All of this was hard. The compliance aspect included stuff relating to distance between hob and extract - we had to get the extract layout changed to be compliant.

Even after it's all sorted she doesn't like the oven. There's some kind of safety sensor which triggers and shuts the oven off, apparently randomly.

I also like gas ovens but it's just easier to go electric at this stage.

I have tried all the usual places, curry's, Harvey norman, DiD, but keep getting the same answer. Looks like I might have to change to electric but will keep looking for a while longer

Anything on UK websites ? Was over in England in June and the place we were staying at had more or less new gas oven. Alot more natural gas used over there

Might be worth doing a little reading on how bad for your health gas hobs are. Electric induction all the way.

If you decide to go all electric you may have to up grade power supply.

An aunt of mine bought a house last year - both hob & oven were gas. She decided to go all electric, bought cooker, hob, extractor etc. with all the bells & whistles. But she got a shock (pun intended😊) when electrician informed her that a whole new wiring system was required from consumer unit to cooker switch. Apparently the existing wiring was way under size to carry the load required. Wall cabinets had to come down, wall chased, back splash replaced, upstairs carpet & floorboards lifted & refitted etc. etc. The total cost was, to say the least, eye watering.

No saying this is the case in your situation but double check with your electrician first to be sure.

If its just an oven the OP can get one that runs off a 13Amp plug, many modern single fan ovens just plug in.
