8 months is long enough. Proof that you don't need gates or access control. Get rid of them.

I think that should be my call, I doubt if you know my circumstances, my wife feels a lot safer with the gates, so that's that,if you can help I'd appreciate it.

Id say anyone technically competent should handle it, probably need something compatible ?

I'm not a gate man but helped someone recently

Power supply , cat-5 audio/video and control pair to open gate was I think the connections on it

Ok, thanks for that, they sometimes are 12v and some 24v, some use cat 6, like a lot of stuff, trying to match up with older stuff is awkward.

I doubt any require cat-6 but ya shouldnt be too technically difficult assuming compatibility

One I was looking at online requires cat 6, so that eliminated me straight away, I have cat 5 to position, I'll root away at it.

    Thank you

For up a link for that one so I can see it

    The audio/video wouldn't require cat6 anyhow I don't think

It maybe the PS over the cat6 dunno there

Hi. Might just need it for enough power over POE+ for the camera.

OP. Is the gate sliding or swinging and is there a motor on it? If so what brand is it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 90 ✭✭husq

It's a swing gate and works on rams it's a Seagate system

Thanks. So you have power at the gate then as well as your cat5. That gives you more choices.

Was the original keypad wired or wireless? Did you have any remote key fobs and if so do those still work?

just wire in wireless controller that will allow you to open with a mobile phone

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,896 ✭✭✭drury..

That wouldn't allow ANother to open gate using a code

you can program in numbers that are allowed to open gates. Such as family members or friends.
For delivery drivers put your number in the details and they will call you. And you can then open the gate

You dont say what part the country your located in but Im in Meath and Seagate equipment seem to be quite popular here. There's a local supplier in Summerhill that might be worth a look.

The thing is the keypad still works and the remote control works it's not ringing inside and I cannot open the gate from inside the house, I bought a new system but it's keypad only, hard to believe, so now I have to change it, the one I bought is an ESP aperta.

so it sounds like there’s an issue with the cable between the two.

    Have you verified the cable?

I got a spark to check,he took down the keypad and there was slugs in it and corroded,it wasn't properly sealed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,896 ✭✭✭drury..

If you're a spark long enough you'll know you have to use sealant on a lot of equipment

The water will get in otherwise

Unfortunately I'm not a spark, all I'll say is it was a Seagate agent that fitted the original for me and they were not cheap, enough said.

Can you not match like for like? If the original unit wasn't sealed, a direct replacement should do the job.

Sorry if I am hijacking your thread but I’m wondering if you had any success finding an installer? I have the same Aperta gate intercom / video system and the installer has gone awol and it isn’t working ….

I've had a great deal of hardship, I bought a new system on advise, turns out it wasn't compatible with fob access, was lucky enough to get my money back for that, luckily I bought it local, ive acquired more parts supposed to work with what I have, I've a lad coming to look at it for me this Saturday, so fingers crossed, my electrician then let me down costing me 4 weeks lost time, so I'm hoping Saturday might but it to bed for me.

1Control Solo might be worth looking into. Just installed myself, very simple. https://www.1control.eu/en/

I finally got sorted, got some parts sent to me by Seagate automation and got a couple of local lads to sort it for me, get this, the original keypad was not sealed properly and a slug got in and messed up the system and blew the power supply, seemingly it's common enough, anyway up and running again.
