Looking at picking up a 2nd hand Omega Seamaster. What sort of money are they going for at the moment? Also any advice if buying from UK based sellers on Chrono 24 - I haven’t done it post Brexit - anything in particular to look out for?

very hard to give any price when you don't list the model or size you are looking for

Whatever price it's at now it'll probably be worth a bit less in the next 6 months, the arse seems to have fallen out of the luxury watch market and that has a snowball effect the likes of the Seamaster will be caught up in.

Diver 300M automatic, ideally, but open to a watch in good condition rather than being tied to a specific model. I'm not too up to date on the specific models, I had a look at the current range on the Omega website - is there a big difference between the 42, 43.5 and 44 mm models?

Since this is my grail watch, I never thought I would own one as I could never justify spending such money on a single watch.

I had been watching the price of the 36.25mm quartz model, and it was always around £1200 - £1500 or so. Seemed to be plenty for sale over the last few years.

Then recently I thought, there's a credit crunch, the arse is meant to be falling out of watches, perhaps I'll actually manage to get one!

But imagine my surprise to see that the priced of same model have actually increased and no-one is listening to offers.

Going to wait another year and see if any fall in price.

the omega seamaster is doing very well price wise despite the rumours tbe arse has fallen out of the market, the planet ocean Xl model has doubled in price in the last five years since i sold mine

Some watch brands had inflated prices due to bit coin money being put into watches and the prices were flying up but the omega seamaster seems to have avoided that

For the op looking at models it would be best to go out to an ad and try on the different sizes and then narrow it down to specifics like wave dial vs non wave and there’s ceramic bezel v non ceramic and bracelet vs divers strap and chrono vs non chrono And the colour options also, there’s so many things to factor in and making a mistake could prove costly

The omega second hand market was not exactly hyped up. If buying second hand I wouldnt worry to much e.g if you paid 3.5 (random value), maybe in 12 months time the same watch might pop up for 3k, it could happen; if this fictious loss is enough to put you off then you can’t afford the watch.

What won’t happen is the same watch popping up for 1.5k. There is a floor to them no matter what and as you pay below retail second hand you are closer to the “floor”.
