Mortise lock size for front door with glass

I believe a 3 inch (76mm) lock size is standard for a front door.. however the instructions for a branded lock said to choose a 2.5 inch (63mm) size for wood door with glass. The door in question has a large glass section. the wooden section before the glass is 95mm (just under 4 inches) to the glass. There is a mortise joint on the door and I imagine I cannot install the lock at that point..

Any idea which size to use and best location to install it?

I know what I'd do and that is install two locks. A night latch up at shoulder level above the mortice joint then I'd put the top of the mortice lock about 6 inches below the bottom of the mortice joint.

A night latch that locks on the inside would be a good security option
