    Hi,

I inherrited a shed with 5 electrical double sockets and 3 lights and all has been running for 10 years now.. They are all spurred off a socket in the kitchen with no fcu. In fact they are not even on their own elcb. I am going to install a 13A fcu at the spur in the kitchen. There are no excessive loads in the shed and the lights are all leds. Would you recommend each spur to have its own fcu in the shed or will one at the supply spur be enough even with the light loads? Thanks.

No fcu means the branch at the kitchen is an "unfused spur"

There isn't necessarily anything wrong with this branch

A concern might be the fusing on the lighting wiring, depending what way it's done

Also outbuildings should have a isolation switch to turn everything off , that's a regulation afair

Usual system is separate swa supply cable and shed board

Thanks Drury. Ideally I should have an FCU for each light spur but as they are leds the loads are small.

It's that the lighting fixed wiring may not have over current protection if it's smaller than the branch cable

I only ever used that branch method once for shed wiring as it's not a great job connecting to house rcd.

Fitted shed board with isolator and mcbs. Of course house rcd later tripped on shed fault.
