    Hi All

I'm finishing a shed (2x4 stud walls) with box profile sheeting, I'll have a window

and I'm not sure of how to finish around the edges to ensure water tightness etc.

where it meets the metal sheet

USA youtube videos show j-rail but this doesn't seem to be standard from Irish

sheet metal suppliers. Anyone have advice on which flashing to use?

    P

Hi. Upload a photo or two showing the detail of the window and framing so that we can see your intent. But yes, it's always been a tricky junction to get right and I know that many container projects have failed due to leaks at the window detail.

seal your window to the timber frame first, window should be flush with the outside of the timber frame then your battens outside that with the the corrugate fixed to that, whats the build up is it four by two stud with OSB fixed to that and a membrane fixed to that, battens then corrugate, seal around that with a silicone or frame sealer then the metal profiling should only be a secondary detail

You need drip flashings - they are fabricated of flat sheets that match the colour of your metal cladding and are made to measure to suit (in your specific case) a window.

That's exactly what you need on top and then get your matching right on the sides and similar on bottom to act like a sill. All fabrication places fold this in a number of different angles etc. Look up how Velux windows are installed for a guide
