The problem now is that everywhere is an RPZ. Someone might take pity on Eileen. Say they charge her €500/month when the rent average in the area is €1000. Now because of RPZ if Eileen moved out in 2 years they can only charge about €530 for it. If they stop renting for a while and it goes back in the market, they can still only charge €530.

Totally agree, then she had some lad on who told her she should have bought when she was younger 😮‍💨

Does anyone believe Katie when she says to Eileen, we'll keep in touch to see how you're getting on 😆

If she has the mothers name and date of birth and her granmothers name can she not just go in and ask for a birth cert for her mother.

Back in the 60's/70's a good worded letter from the local priest or Garda would get you through all that red tape when applying for a new passport.

The problem with HAP is once you're in receipt of HAP the council class you has housed so they take you off the housing list in most cases, then the landlord decides to sell and you've another family homeless, and then HAP have to increase their payment to get that family rehoused under no doubt a higher rent, if they just kept those people on the list and house them like anyone else on the list they could be saving ten of thousands of euros… So the homeless figures are completely off!!

Just half listening did that older woman of 70 say that of her total income 40 - 50% goes on rent? or just her employment?

That would mean she is bring in 43K per year on a part-time job, and her Daughter would have some income also, but again I don't know if she is including this.

Nor does it take into account her state pension which can range between €87 to €289 per week

Her daughter would be getting €244 per week, at the lower end of this they are bringing in 17k plus lets say a part-time min wage job would give her around 14K, that's a the lowest level bring in 31K.

As for someone leaving college and I say this as someone who left it late to start house looking, start saving. If you able to save 10k every year you'll have 100k to your name by the time your in your 30s. House prices will have gone up but you should be able for a mortgage, at that point even with rent.

    Think outside of Dublin.

I have some sympathy for people and certainly a 70 YO woman with a disabled daughter. But… I wonder.

Anyway Katie a well paid RTÉ staffer who's married to the TV Scheduling Manager probably has less sympathy.

Just one more thing .... when did they return that car

She could also go the church she made her 1st Holy Communion in, assuming she made it.
