I wish to relocate the meter box from the rear of a house around the corner to the gable. Any guidance on the costs involved? I will be asking the ESB for a quote.

Photo of existing box attached which it is intended to move to the gable wall between the window and corner of the house, a short distance. The supply cable runs along the gable underground so it will not need to be extended.

Did the same a couple of years ago was 440 plus Vat for ESB at the time, also be aware you obviously have all the work done as in the meter box moved to the gable, ducting etc. Also was a struggle to get them out was weeks waiting

How’s it going, I’m currently In the process of doing this myself, I’m moving the Esb meter from a. Cupboard in the kitchen to a cabinet on the gable wall, fortunately I’m an electrician so can do all the necessary wiring on my end but I’m finding it hard to get an answer as to where and how far I have to dig back in my garden for them to be happy to re route the cable. Did you end up getting it done in the end?

we opened a new trench and put in a new red Esb duct from the nearest pole to the new meter box location on the gable wall. My electrician and the Esb advised that the old cable laid in 1974 was inadequate. The new duct runs alongside the old one but is about 18 inches from the old cable.

I have to take an electrical supply out to a domestic shed which is 8 metres from the meter box. Do I need to put in a duct/armoured cable from the LCB down the cavity and out at the bottom of the wall under the meter box? Also as the ESB trench passes the shed on the way to the house, can I put the armoured cable/duct in the same trench?
