Irish Passport Replacement urgent

    Hey,

I'm starting to get really worried. Two weeks ago, I accidentally put my passport in the washing machine. Last week, I applied for a new passport to replace the damaged one and sent the old one back to the passport office in Dublin. As of today, Friday, August 16th, they've confirmed they received my damaged passport.

I'm concerned about the timing because I have an important business trip on August 29th. According to the passport tracking system, my new passport is expected to arrive by September 4th, which is after my flight. The passport office isn't open until Monday morning to call them, so now I'm stressing all weekend. Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Was the process faster than expected once they receive the damaged one? If not, is there a way to speed it up?

So TWO weeks ago you damaged your passport.

At that point you most likely knew you had a trip coming up.

But you delay a week? Just for fun?

If the trip is in Europe, apply for a passport card. It will arrive in a few days and you can apply online now with a selfie photo.

    Contact a TD or Senator.

They can expedite things with the passport office.

You can't do anything over the weekend so there is absolutely no point getting stressed about waiting until Monday - you have to.

They can, in some circumstances, let you collect replacement passports from their offices to cut out postage delays. But they'll tell you that on Monday, and no sooner.

Don't even check the tracker over the weekend, and stop worrying as that won't change anything.
