Can anyone confirm if Europcar in Split, Croatia allow cross border travel to both Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro? Ive gone onto the Croatian Europcar website and emailed them so hopefully i get a reply.
    here were my exact questions.

Also whats the story with returning a car out of hours. Our return flight is early Sun morning and their office will be closed at that time. Just have to return it on Sat?

    1. Is cross border travel allowed?

    2. If it is, do you supply a green card? Easy Rent in Dubrovnik supplied us with this green card back in 2022.

    3. Is there an additional charge for cross border travel?

    4. Does premium protection cover cross border travel?

    5. Our flight is at 07:30 on Sun 22 Sept. Is there a deposit box where we can return keys as I note that your office will be closed when we need to checkin for our flights or will we have to return the car on Saturday?

Just a let anyone know if renting a car in Split that I found Nova Rent a Car (aka SicilybyCar) We're v easy to deal with and ticked all of the boxes above. It's a lovely little airport and there's a dedicated section for car rental. Probably the best laid out airport I've ever been to.

Yeah it's possible, you just have to tell them. And most won't let you go to Albania.

Why not. Is it known for being dangerous / high incident rate with cars?

Incidentally clicked into your thread and incidentally I have driven(as front seat passenger at least) across Albania. Worst driving I have ever seen. Not just driving, pure reckless abandon to life itself.

Learned later that there were only 10 cars or so in the country in 1994 and then they gave everyone a license. Goes some way to explaining it. I wouldn't drive there again...

I lived for nearly 2 years in the Balkans, I am extremely thankful that I made it out unscathed! Craziest driving ever.

I remember feeling like that in China 20 years ago. It felt like everyone was given a car overnight and they kinda made up the rules as they went along. First come f1st served kinda thing.
