    Hi,

Would appreciate any feedback. I have a young family and a wife who works as a teacher (long summer hols) and a caravan feels like a really good option for us that we want to pursue.

We would plan to have it in the same park for the whole season, and pay somebody to store it over the winter months. We may consider switching to different parks every season possibly. All within the Cork Kerry region.

My big fear and stumbling block is moving the caravan to/from storage every year. 6 berth caravans are large and I would be concerned about how competent I would be to do it safely. I don't really have the opportunity to try out towing one for a long enough period before I buy to alleviate that concern.

    My questions are:

Is this a valid concern or am I overthinking it??

Is there people around the Cork/Kerry region that offer a transport, or preferably both transport and storage service??

I would really appreciate any feedback at all

if its a concern, then it is valid

a 6 birth is big but not huge, and sounds like you are only going to move it once a year (well, twice I guess - out of storage and back in). To me , it seems that the great advantage of a caravan is the ease (and frequency) of moving. If this is out the window, would you consider a mobile home? They can be moved by transport guys on back of truck and would give you more space / options when set down on a site.

Does the caravan in mind need you to have a trailer licence? If I remember correctly, a small single axle caravan can be towed on the regular B licence (as long as total weight doesnt exceed the weight noted on the car plate) as the 750kg trailer rule doesnt apply to caravans.

I know a lad that has one himself, he moves it twice a year, drop me a line if you want and I'll get a good price for you.

Some sites let you store the caravan on their site for the winter. So if you can get it to the campsite just the once you'll be fine. But yes, there are people who will tow it for you if you're not comfortable. I rang up a driving school and did a few trial runs with their trailer before buying a caravan.
