    Hi Everyone,

I haven't a clue about plumbing and was just wondering in the second photo there's a component in the bottom of the tank, is that the immersion unit? Or would anyone know what it is?

    Thanks in advance

I would imagine the Immersion drops down from the top of tank as they normally go down from the top and could be a single or double unit wired if you have a bath.

I don't think there's a lid on the tank, if that makes any difference, and yeah there used to be a bath.

That’s a combination cylinder, commonly used in apartments. The top part is actually your cold water storage tank and there is a small hot water cylinder close coupled underneath.

What is photographed certainly looks like a side entry immersion heater.

The cylinder also looks to have a central heating coil, so can also be heated by a gas boiler that you have perhaps?

Yeah we have a gas boiler too which provides some heat to the water.

It should be able to heat it quite quickly! Much faster than the immersion.
It’s a very small cylinder though, so will run out of hot water quickly.

A couple more pics that might help.

It’s an immersion alright. Missing its cover!

Be careful not to touch exposed connections.
