My Grandad's Watch

My younger brother has had my Grandad's watch for many years, he's has it restored very sympathetically, allowing it to show it's age, but ensuring it continues to function for years to come. He recently gifted it to me and we discussed the fact that it has a small face by modern standards and that I have a 7 inch wrist... So we agreed it might look good on a double tour strap. Had it made by a nice Vietnamese lady on Etsy and I have to say, I really like how it turned out. The watch will go into rotation, but it's slightly more delicate than I'm used to, I'm a bit brutal and clumsy with my precious watches...

It's a Certina hand wound... Patina on the dial has been purposely kept.

That's a very nice vintage piece.

Completely agree with keeping its character.

    Fair play.

Nice watch and really well done on the refurb. I'd recommend considering a cuff strap for it rather than the current strap, personal preference but I've seen a lot of vintage watches on them and they really look very well.

    very nice,

a refreshing change from the fake rolex's a lot of grandads appear to have owned (no box or papers was left to me by my Grandad….)

For occasional wear I don’t think the watch is too small .What it lacks in size it makes up for in sentimental value.A really good quality strap on it would be my choice , that strap is a bit bondage ish for my tastes .No harm if your into that yourself of course.
