Wiring lights

Don't know if anyone can help, I'm trying to replace these flush mounted ceiling lights with like for like but I can't figure out how to detach the wiring from the old fitting. Obviously I'm not an electrician but I've watched a few yt videos and still can't work out how to remove it.

If anyone could give me a step by step walk through I'd really appreciate it. I can do this with your help 😁 (yeah I know to turn off the mains at the fusebox first)

I have instructions on how to install the new one but they seem to be wired differently. One is in the faceplate the other in the reverse.

Get an electrician in, if you can't figure that out you really shouldn't be near it in my opinion. There's too much to risk in terms of personal injury or fire risk.

Thanks. I hate electrical stuff, I can wire a plug so I expect it to be much the same but rather let someone else do it. It can stay in the box though cause I'm not forking out 80-100 euro for getting a couple of light fittings installed. ☺️

That's the cost of the tools and knowledge unfortunately.

The single grey wires coming through the hole in the back of the fitting and going to the brown coloured connector are likely a single brown/red for live and two blue/black for neutral. Can only see one connector in your pic, but there's another behind it I'm sure. Doesn't look like there's an earth connected to the lug on the fitting which isn't ideal, but typical of old installations.

Once you identify the cables you can disconnect from the connectors, remove old fitting, follow instructions for the new fitting. As you said, turn off at the board if you're unsure of anything. Or better yet, get an electrician or leave it altogether if you're unsure.
