Heatpump ready hot water cylinder for gas boiler system

    Hi folks,

Currently have a 120 litre hot water insulated cylinder which is doing the job, its insulated and only 18 months old. We added a pumped shower to it which is awesome. Its on the small side though - couple of showers and its drained. This is fine as I'm reheating it from the gas using automation and temp sensors. So we are never stuck for hot water. I'd like to add a bigger cylinder at some point and eventually will probably move to a heat pump. I see mention of cylinders designed for use with a heat pump - they have bigger coils? Could one of these be fitted to the current system? Have split radiator and hot water zones at the moment. There's 4 of us in the house so thinking a 200 litre cylinder probably would do? Its in the hot press so space is at a premium there. The other option is just wait till the gas boiler is being replaced.. maybe 5 years down the line.. and put the hot water cylinder in where the existing gas boiler is down stairs. Thats a long way off though! How do i tell if ive a vented or unvented system? Ive a gauge in the hotpress with tap for 'topping' up the pressure if it ever goes low. Does that mean its unvented?

    Cheers,

    Mick

Heat pump hot water cylinders are huge. They usually go in a small plant room /garage close to the heat pump on the ground floor.
