Subbing while completing PME post primary with Hibernia

    Hi,

I'm thinking of going into subbing while completing the Hibernia course? Has anyone done this? Would there be enough subbing hours to give up my current job?

Also, what are the chances of being accepted to do superintendent for the state exams or correction of papers?

Thanks, any information would be greatly appreciated on working in schools while completing the course 🙂

You'll get way more responses in the Teaching forum than here.

What subjects will you be able to mark? That will determine the likelihood. I'm not sure to be honest. Two years ago they couldn't get correctors, this year they were oversubscribed in many subjects. Subbing will often depend on what the absentee rate is in the school you're working in. Can really vary, I was in a Gaelcholaiste and they couldn't get subs so I basically had a full time wage doing the Dip. In other schools they might have 10 part time teachers waiting for the call up for a bit of subbing. You won't know til you start unfortunately.
