Singing mounties advert for Labatt's beer.

I'm definitely not imagining that this existed. There used to be an ad for Labatt's, probably on Atlantic 252. I don't think it was on TV because I somehow remember every word of the song but I can't remember any images.

It pops into my head every so often but absolutely nobody I know remembers it. I can't find any trace of it on the internet. Does anybody out there recall a catchy radio ad for Labatt's beer?

The lyrics as I remember them:

When it's cold out here on the wild frontier

We sing this song, la la la laaa.

Then we all get together for a cold Labatt's beer

With our Mountie hats on.

(I might have forgotten a line or two here…)

We've got long brown boots

and smart red suits

But our trousers are black,

I forgot about that.

I found those in my search. There was a whole series of Labatt's TV ads with Tony Slattery.

Haven't found the one with the lyrics I remember though…

I think I have correctly filled in the lines I forgot below:

That Monty Python sketch is from the early 70s, it pre dates the Labatts ads by at least twenty years.

If it makes you feel better, I do recall the ad from the early 90's. Aimed at the UK audience so it played on Atlantic and the local stations in the UK. I remember being in Wales back in 1992 and hearing said advert on Radio City very early one Sunday morning, with John O'Hara on air. He actually went on to run Atlantic, there's a connection for you.
