Hi, have musky smell in 1 bathroom. Thinking its leak from shower drain. Just wondering should I have silicone around drain gasket? Plumber didn't put any.

Just lift out that drain cover; its an integrated trap type, so there should be a cup full of water under it (or attached to it)

Thats what keeps the smells out. They can dry out easily, or a windy day sucks the water out of mine.

If its dry just put some water down, and repeat weekly.

Ya run it everyday and see if any improvement.

Also run it after flushing toilet or emptying whb and see if you can see any pattern as to when it happens.

I have a similar one. It needs to be cleaned out occasionally.

Just take off the top cover and then release and lift out the top of the trap - use two fingers spread out to rotate it anti-clockwise while lifting. There is a cup at the end of it which can fill with debris - soap bits, hairs etc. Clear it out and give it a good wash with hot water and wash-up liquid. Reinsert and pour in some domestos (etc) to fill the cup. Leave for 15- 30 minutes before flushing out with cold water.

This works for me anyway - repeat every 6 months or so.

Cheers for responses. Will do as suggested. Take it silicone is not required around gasket so and I just twist into place with drain assembly.
